New Year / New Day

Jan 3, 2012 by

So many folks use the New Year as a starting point for changing things in their lives. They make New Year Resolutions with the best of intentions.

“This New Year is exactly what I need to change.”

I will…start my new diet, exercise, quit smoking, quit gambling, amp up my business, etc.

The big trouble is that the calendar turning to January 1 doesn’t do the work for you.

Bummer.

In the past I have used my failed intentions as ways to belittle myself. I used it as an excuse to gamble (as if I needed one). I used it as a way to carry on down the same painful, yet familiar path I had been stumbling down.

Maybe I didn’t deserve to have something better in my life. Maybe I was too stupid to change. I may as well go to the casino and escape for a while. I knew I could feel “better” there doing something I was good at…and in a comfortable place.

Are you spotting the danger in allowing yourself to give up so quickly?

Nothing will change!

You have to be willing to push through to a better life. Fight yourself if you have to. Your happiness is worth the perseverance it takes to change habits – whether it’s gambling, eating or just using your time more wisely.

You are worth the effort!

Even if you fall down 7 times, just be sure to get back up 8!

Are there some action steps you can take right now to move toward your new life? Take the time to do it. NOW!

Best of Luck in 2012!

P.S. Now would be a great time to check out Numb No More if you haven’t already. It’s got some suggestions for changing your patterns in life. You will see what worked for me, and how you can improve your life too!
